When flooding occurs, the city's main water valve can be overloaded, which for some homes, could result in cross-contamination between sewage and their residential drinking water. Both because of these health hazards & damages that can result from this backup, some homes can benefit from, or require, the installation of a backwater valve.

If you live in Burlington, Oakville or Milton you could be eligible for a subsidy of 50% of the total amount invoiced by a plumbing contractor for the purchase & installation of a backwater valve up to a maximum of $675.
